Application of oxidized polyethylene wax in PVC heat shrink film

2020-12-30

Oxidized polyethylene wax is a low molecular weight polyethylene, characterized by high softening point (above 100°C), close to high molecular weight polyethylene. While the melt viscosity and hardness are close to paraffin wax, as a lubricant, it is chemically stable and has good electrical properties. Polyethylene wax and polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl wax, ethylene propylene rubber, butyl rubber solubility is good, can improve the flow of polyethylene, polypropylene, ABS and polymethyl methacrylate, polycarbonate mold release. For PVC and other external lubricants compared to the oxidized polyethylene wax has a stronger internal lubrication; in addition, it can also be used in inks, paper, concentrated masterbatch, biological bi-disintegrated masterbatch, mulch and candles, etc., but also for paint and hot melt adhesives, binders and so on.

PVC has good properties but also has disadvantages, poor thermal stability is one of them. The role of oxidized polyethylene wax is to restrain or prevent thermal degradation of PVC during processing and to extend its service life. Oxidized polyethylene wax should not affect the color and transparency of the product, is compatible with resin and plasticizer, etc., and is inexpensive and small in dosage. The position of lubricants in polymer processing is also very important, in the production of pvc heat shrink film should also be added to the appropriate amount of lubricants to reduce harmful friction, reduce interfacial adhesion, according to the mechanism of the role of lubricants. Properly adjust the matching dosage of internal and external lubricants to reduce the matching cost. Stearic acid and oxidized polyethylene wax molecular chain with carboxyl and hydroxyl polar groups, can significantly improve the compatibility of PVC, with a unique internal and external lubrication effect. Plasticizer is one of the important additives in the processing of PVC heat-shrinkable materials, which can reduce the intermolecular forces of polymers, increase the plasticity of polymers, and enhance the molding performance of PVC. In the production of PVC heat-shrinkable film, the addition of appropriate amount of oxidized polyethylene wax in the formula can improve the processing performance, make the PVC particles easier to break and melt, improve the speed of gelatinization of the material and the quality of melting, and the melt strength is high.
